Symptoms of bipolar disorder involve intense mood swings between:
Abnormally high periods (eccstatic, joyous, reckless, hyper) where you begin to talk really fast, sleep less, and do reckless things (drive too fast, spend money you don’t have, etc.)
Abnormally low periods (depressed, lethargic, intense sadness or anxiety) where you slow down, sleep more, eat more/less than normal, or practice some form of self harm.
Your mood can change within minutes, hours days or even weeks.
If you have any of the symptoms of bipolar disorder it is extremely important to go to your doctor right away, as you will need to be put on some form of medication. People with Bipolar Disorder are at a high risk of suicide.

Severe shifts in mood, energy and overall functionality! It can result in poor performance, damaged relationships and even suicide!Severe episodes may ,or may not include auditory,or visual hallucination,or both!In extreme cases a person may appear indistinguishable from one whom is schizophrenic.Im bipolar and before I was on my medication I would see little bugs crawling out of peoples’ eyes!Freaked me out!

I have bipolar disorder. It is characterized by a person having cycles, either manic or depression. The frequency and length of a cycle varies with each person. In the manic phase you have lots of energy that can last for days or weeks. This manic energy could help get things done or it could just be an anxious nonproductive energy. Because there is such a high at some time there is a severe low, in which the person has no energy and is very depressed. If properly medicated they can limit the frequency of these cycles and be more "even".

Bi polar disorder is a considered a chemical imbalance from the brain. It also falls under the category of a mood disorder. There are extreme mood swings from severe mania, in which a person can stay up a few days in a row, talk too fast and exhibit reckless behavior. Then they cycle out of mania and hit a low. they are in a severe depression .
The illness is controlled by medication of antidepressants, or lithium.
A personality disorder is different, there are a several disorders that fall under this category , and which does not include bi polar.
